Terms of Use
Last updated: 27 April 2026
1. About this service
LandSteward provides an online eligibility checker and income estimator for Environmental Land Management (ELM) schemes in England. By using this service, you agree to these terms.
2. Decision-support only — not professional advice
LandSteward is provided for informational purposes only and does not constitute official, financial, legal, or agricultural advice.
Estimates of eligible actions and payment income are generated from publicly available DEFRA and Rural Payments Agency (RPA) data. They are indicative only. Actual payments, eligibility, and scheme rules are determined solely by the RPA.
Always verify your eligibility and payment rates with the Rural Payments Agency before applying to any scheme.
3. No warranty
Scheme data (action codes, payment rates, eligibility rules) is sourced from DEFRA publications. Whilst we take reasonable steps to keep it accurate, we do not warrant that the data is complete, current, or error-free. Scheme rules can and do change; it is your responsibility to verify current guidance on GOV.UK.
The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
4. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, LandSteward shall not be liable for any loss or damage arising from your reliance on information provided by this service, including (without limitation) loss of income, loss of grant payments, or penalties arising from scheme non-compliance.
5. Data licence
Scheme data displayed in LandSteward is sourced from DEFRA and is reproduced under the Open Government Licence v3.0. LandSteward is not affiliated with DEFRA or the Rural Payments Agency.
6. Accounts and subscriptions
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. Paid subscriptions are processed by Stripe and are subject to Stripe's own terms of service.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or that are used for purposes other than personal farm management.
7. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
8. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the service after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
